Membership in the Association for Continuing Legal Education provides a number of benefits.
Membership is open to continuing legal education professionals. For an explanation of membership categories, please refer to the member types below. ACLEA reviews all applications for membership and reserves the right to deny membership to those individuals who do not meet the criteria for membership as specified in the membership requirements.
ACLEA offers a rolling membership, meaning your membership begins on the date your application is approved and payment is processed, and extends for one year. Dues may be deductible as membership in a professional association on your income tax forms. Consult your tax advisor for more information. To receive member rates for an event, you must first become a member, and then register for the event(s). These will be two separate transactions.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call our office at (651) 366-6082 .
WHO CAN BE AN ACLEA MEMBER?
Any continuing legal education, CLE, professional can be a member of ACLEA. By "CLE” we mean "the conduct of activities directly relating to continuing education or professional development products and services for lawyers.” It is an admittedly broad definition and we mean it that way because this is a varied and creative industry. Being a member is a benefit to any CLE professional for the networking alone, but there is so much more to your Member Benefits. ACLEA has three categories of membership: Regular, Associate, and Emeritus:
Regular members are generally CLE management-level staff, though not strictly limited to management. Regular members participate fully in the business and activities of the Association with full voting rights. You may become a Regular Member using our Online Membership Form or filling out the PDF Form and mailing it with payment to ACLEA.
Associate members are generally CLE support staff. Associate members shall pay reduced membership dues and may participate in the activities of the Association, including service on and as chairs of SIGs and committees. However, Associate members may not vote, be counted for purposes of a quorum, serve on the Executive Committee, or petition for changes to this Constitution and By-Laws. You may become a Associate Member using our Online Membership Form or filling out the PDF Form and mailing it with payment to ACLEA.
Emeritus members are retired CLE professionals with at least ten consecutive years of Regular membership in ACLEA. The criteria for Emeritus membership include years of membership, level of activity within ACLEA, offices held, and service on committees. Emeritus members are exempt from payment of membership dues and may not serve on the Executive Committee but shall be entitled to vote and otherwise participate in the business and activities of the Association. You may become a Emeritus Member using our Online Membership Form or filling out the PDF Form and mailing it with payment to ACLEA.
PLEASE NOTE: Effective May 1, 2014 ACLEA dues are now on an anniversary date renewal schedule. Your membership will be active for twelve months from the date you join.
